I ran and ran. It has been a while since I ran so much. To be honest, I didn't run much. It was just an interval training; a high-intensity sort of an interval training, but the stationary exercises, such as the push ups and jumping jacks, were really okay. But the running wasn't. It really wasn't a difficult run -- just that the competitive nature of us made us go the distance, literally. What we had to do for this HIIT Training, conducted patiently by the legendary Ming "Hunk", was five sets of exercises, followed by a sprint over a distance. While everyone could do the sets at their own pace, the faster individuals, who completed the set earlier, had to plank or do a standing stance while waiting for the rest to get back. Doesn't this sound a lot like Habitica? Because of the fact that the earlier ones would have to "suffer" while waiting for the slower ones to return, it spurred everyone to give their best. I was particularly impressed with Joyce, who took the trouble to attend the session but also to give her best. And even with Hobbes, who was in discomfort but made it down to the session as well. We were also particularly happy to have Brenda join us, thanks to Louis. And while it has only been a month or so hanging together, slowly but surely, the frequent activities are bonding the team closely together. A strange and surreal team that we have here - it's like there is an invisible bond that connected each person, and like dots with a numbers, we are like part of a join-the-dots diagram, slowly forming the total picture, but also patiently waiting for the hidden people or dots-with-a-number, to join us, so that we can eventually form the complete picture. In the spirit of Wellaholic, I certainly hope that more people would come to realise the Wellaholic vision, and then come join us for all the fun activities that we have made effort to create. So what about the run? My competitive nature made me want to do the best that I can, and that meant giving my best shot. #livethechange! PS: So what's the picture that would be formed? I wouldn't know, but time will tell. When I conceptualised the Wellaholic concept, I wanted Wellaholic to be able to spearhead total wellness, and total wellness to me, was a combination of good supplementation (for internal nutrition to the body), good fitness and wellness (for the external physical fitness) and good confidence, which stems from good skin care.
With regard to nutraceuticals or supplements, then, I wanted a few key products which I believed worked well for me. This included multivitamins. I have been taking multivitamins for the longest time, and I wanted a good multivitamins blend in our Wellaholic Nutraceuticals Portfolio. So why Life's Promise? I brainstormed several names, and eventually decided on Life's Promise. Why so? Even the best eating plans can fall short of meeting all of the 40-plus nutrients we need each day. Most Singaporeans fail to meet dietary recommendations for many reasons, including strict dieting, poor appetite, changing nutritional needs, or less-than-healthy food choices. This is made worse by the fact that our street or hawker food are usually carbohydrates-heavy, and hence lack the nutrition that we require. Taking a once-daily multivitamin is an easy way to fill in small nutritional gaps. This resonated with idea of having the promise of living longer, hence Life's Promise. In addition, I wanted a blend of multivitamins that would be able to exceed expectations. This is where Life's Promise shines. Life's Promise also contains superfoods such as chlorophyll, spirulina, wheat grass, kelp, amongst others. Over and above this, Life's Promise also contains the goodness of 42 plant and vegetable extracts. It is with this that this signature product lives its promise to help to increase one's immune system, and maintain good health, skin and bones. I saw my destination. Short of an epiphany, it is a sudden realisation that I am moving into another phase of my life; and that perhaps, what I have learned and experienced in the journey that I have walked would be put to use in what I would set out to do. And that in this new adventure towards this specific destination in the horizon, that I would be able to find like-minded fellow adventurers to join me in this Wellaholic quest, to help make positive changes and habits in those around us. Interesting, a friend once did a numerology reading for me, and my number amounted to 33, which was a unique master number. A birth date that reduced down to 33 was supposed to be very rare. 33 is the Master Teacher - the individual's focus is on reaching the world and uplifting the loving energy of mankind. They are not concerned with personal ambition, and have great devotion to cause. This number has a high energy and is concerned in doing good in the world. Perhaps I was influenced by what I was told, but deep inside me, this idea actually resonated with me. What do we take to our graves at the end of the day? It is not what we own materially, but the kind of touch points that we leave with the people around us. This is probably why I engage teaching and thrive in a teaching environment. I have been teaching at a local university for the past three years, and it still gives me great satisfaction to be able to share my knowledge with the students. There is without doubt that this path will be a long and windy one, and probably one beset with obstacles and difficulties. But with a team of like-minded individuals who believes in the cause, and with the power of the network, we might move mountains after all. It all starts with a vision, and then, the courage to take a positive step forward. #livethechange Continuing my Ab Roller challenge, since I realised that a few of my friends (including some that I've tagged) are still continuing their 30day challenge. Despite my busy-ness, it seems to be an auspicious day to do the challenge! 1. Execute an Ab Roller challenge; there's no end day -- just keep adding to the tally! 2. Video, post online, hashtag #wellaholicabroller and#livethechange 3. Tag 5 friends to get them into action too. 4. Explain why we do it. (transform ourselves and one person at a time). Live the change!!! |
